Will was talking to someone online who is planning on being part of a panel on drawing at a convention that has a mystery theme, so he asks me about how one could convey mystery in their drawings. I replied, “erase part of it.”
My parents watch a lot of mystery series set in other time periods. One is Father Brown, which is set in the 1950s. We were talking about how scary these times are, in regards to acts of violence. I made a comment that it is nice to escape to another time by watching a show like Father Brown. Then I thought about it and said, “well I guess that wasn’t such a safe time either… I mean people are getting killed all the time on Father Brown!”
How else can you convey mystery in a drawing? Draw all your subjects with clothes on.
